HAPPY STORIES

Well we have had Poppy since July 09 now. The time has just disappeared.

She has settled in just fine. Her favourite toy is the spider. It is pipe-cleaners tied together with some wool. We have actually taught her to play fetch with it. At first she needed treats, but now she just does it for fun! She will also get socks out of my partners sock drawer if he leaves it open and bring them to you to play fetch. She just loves bringing things to get you to play with her. Although when she wakes you up at 6am to play, its not so fun :)

She has found a friend with Turdie the turtle. She sits under his tank for hours, watching his shadow on the wall. She has got a hand over the dogs though. She sits in our bedroom window and plays with them (they all jump up for a sniff and a lick, though she gives them a bit of a bash if they get too excited). They are all really good with her.

Lizzy (AKA Phoebe) has it all worked out, off to the outside shower with Dad every night, sit by the heater and wait patiently till he has his shower, so he is completely smitten. "I'm not stupid, I have him all figured out! What a softy!!!"
The best place to sit is on the kitchen window sill, where you can see who is coming and going, inside and out, and even better, when the fridge is opened, (don't let a chance go by!)
What's more, I am allowed to sleep on the bed in winter!  And I have 2 big brothers, Tom and Jack who are very good at defending me from the nasty stray cat that has appeared in the street just lately. Otherwise they just tolerate me.  Well, as you know, they are too sophisticated to acknowledge that they really care, and for some reason, don't like being jumped on, right out of the blue, when they walk in the door, when their main intention is the food bowl first thing in the morning!  Don't know why?
I have just been desexed, but other than being totally a Dizzy Lizzy that night, it hasn't slowed me down for a second! You better believe it!
PS. No one else is allowed to sit on top of the TV.

Charles (tom) as a baby...
We adopted Tom (Charles) as a sedate cuddly little 6 week old. Now the man of the house his hollow legs and active personality keep everyone busy. He still loves cuddles, especially in bed of a cold morning. He brings us so much happyness. It wouldn't be the same without having to temt him out from under the house, off the top of the fish tank, out of the washing maching and anywhere else he can squese him self. He loves to play with his little adopted sister, often found cuddled up sleeping together. They are very much part of the family. Its hard to remember back to before he came and filled our lives with laughs. Always up to something new and cheeky. Thank you to the people who take in and help find homes for the less fortunate. It's all thanks to you.

Ruby as a baby....

We bought Ruby
the Saturday just before Mothers Day last year much to my husbands disgust,
but as you can see he also has fallen for our little Ruby. She always comes
on holidays with us down the coast and loves going on adventures on the
beach down at Lake Conjola. She has been such a great addition to our family
even though the cats are still not that fond of her. When we bought her she
was a quiet little lady and since getting used to family life with us she
has become a very energetic girl who loves to chase almost anything. Whilst
she is very good at night time when she comes inside, she is very busy
during the day outside discovering anything that moves. She loves her walks
and loves the attention and boy she gets it from the kids. Thanks again it
has been the best thing for the kids and also us. We love Ruby and wanted to
thank you for bringing her into our lives. All the very best with the other
animals and hopefully you have many more success stories like ours.

Picture of Cosmo Cosmo as a baby...
Thought I would finally send through a pic of Cosmo for you, and let you know how she is doing! She had adapted to Perth life very well, ever since she got off the plane she has been an absolute pleasure. We have since moved as I have purchased my own house, so its just Cosmo and I most of the time and she has become my best friend! She is adorded by all, dogs and people alike! She has a couple of puppy friends, Niko who is a 16mth old husky and Sally who is a 8mth maltese cross. Niko is her favourite, we take them for walks through the bushlands close by to where we live and they love it! They have a very sibling like relationship, always very playful and getting into mischef together!

Cosmo is very affectionate. always wanting cuddles and attention, which I must admit she gets alot of! I have a 5 year old sister who stays often, and its not me she comes to visit anymore, its Cosmo! And they always come bearing gifts, which Cosmo loves! She has a backyard full of toys!

Thank you once again, I couldn't have found a more perfect puppy than Cosmo. I am lucky to have found her

Just wanted to let you know that Amy (now Abigail)  is going great and has really settled
in.  Actually she took all of about 1 hour to settle in and seems to be a
very happy puppy dog.

Yesterday was her first day at home all alone and when my partner got home
she was doing 360's around him for about an hour she was so excited.  She
really is a lovely little girl and she gives us so much affection.

Daisy's story...
She is unlike any other cat I've ever met.  while she was in hospital the first time, we moved a futon that we have in the rumpus room.  We knew the cats slept in the back of it (on the ledge that the base creates when you have it in "seat" position) and Bobby has slept there since we bought it way before we got Daisy.... anyway... we move the futon and see that the material covering the base has a tear in it.  Well inside the little hidey hole was a massive collection of cat mice, cat balls (I'd been wondering where they'd all got to), matchbox cars, little bits of string, plastic drink bottle lids, Barbie clothes, Doll's house cushions, hairbands, Thomas trains etc etc.  It seems that our Daisy isn't really a cat but is a bower bird in disguise.   I knew she carried things around in her mouth, we'd all seen her do that, but we didn't realise she had a secret stash!!!  So we pulled it all out and put it all away and I put the cat toys back near the cat house in the other room.  She comes home from the vet, sees a mouse on the floor, quickly runs over and gets it and runs to where to futon used to be obviously with the intention of putting it back in her stash.  She sees the futon isn't there, drops the mouse and sits down and sulks.  It was a sight I tell you!  Then she sees the futon at the other end of the room, gets all excited, picks the mouse back up, runs over there only to find we've blocked off access to the back of it with a big toy box.  She was not pleased and is still trying to work out a way to get back in there because I'm sure she thinks all "her stuff" is still in there!!

Now tell me she isn't crazy!!!

Moppets Story...
I thought you might like to see how Moppet has grown, she is such a sticky beak and is in to everything. I can't tell you how much joy she has bought with her, she really is a special girl. She sleeps on my bed and about 6.30am she wakes me with a gentle touch on my face to say, I am hungry and I want food and I want to play.

Thank you for finding her for me.

   Picture of Cleo
Just wanted to let you know that Karen and I absolutely love Charlie
(formally known as Cleo). She is a wonderful and smart dog!  Her and
Maxi (our Cat) are getting along wonderfully.  She's got a great
temperament and loves all other dogs and people.  She's healthy and
growing like a weed, currently 11 Kgs :).  She is an absolute pleasure
to have around.

   Picture of Joey
Looks like Joey still likes sleeping on peoples laps!  He's doing great, loves swimming
in the pool with the kids and going up to the dog park, has lots of friends
up there.

    Picture of Aiden
Aiden is now Buster and would like to thank you for getting him a new home,
and so would I.
He is as cheeky as he can be and is great with kids, my sisters cat and
other dogs, my ankles have a few bruises though. We did pass puppy school
(he was the cutest and smartest) and mostly he does as he is told. :-) He
has definitely livened up my house hold and a number of others!

BUTTERFLY                             SPOTTY NOW SQUIDY                      SNOWY NOW SCRUFFY

BUTTERFLY was rescued from a local pound 2 days before she gave birth to Spotty and Snowy.   Both Mother and puppies all went off to new homes in Sydney.
Spotty who is now know as Squidy is very much loved by his family.
  (
And here is an update of Snowy who is now Scruffy.
(A few words from his new family)   He's so smart, too!  Scruffy knows no, drop it, down, sit, wait, stay, come, dance(!) high five(he jumps up and puts his paws against your hands) and
roll over!  I think that's pretty impressive for a puppy. He has some  doggy friends, and plays with the Bernese Mountain Hound across the road, which is hilarious cos that dog's as big as a horse!  He's also good friends with the rabbit, and spends part of each day hanging out  in the rabbit pen so they can play together.

Lilly and Lola (2 lab x chow puppies)  made there way up north of Sydney to live with 2 lab x brothers (Smudge and Zen)  and are fitting in beautifully as you can see in this pic!

Kate - the tiny kitten handed into the pound when found on a construction site, has found herself a wonderful home in Sydney

Rocky flew off to Perth and is extremely happy with his new family.  His new family love him to bits.
Isn't he cute!!!

George who is now know as Dawson is growing up into a real CUTIE.   His family love him and say he is very smart.    Dawson as a baby:

Foley - now Huxley was rescued extremely matted, full of fleas and very underweight.   Today is a healthy 5 kilos and looks fabulous.  Here are a few words from his new family:Hi, I hope all is going well with your new website and dogs.
We continue to be overjoyed with having Huxley in our lives.
He is very well behaved and  has put on weight up to about 5 kilos.I can't think how skinny he must have been when you and the foster carer first met him. In the first week he regularly pushed the plate off the dog food bowl to eat the remainder mid morning, after already eating a few hours earlier.
He loves his bones and has learnt very quickly that we don't like bones in the house. Consequently, he sits on the rug in his kennel and chews, often with the bones clutched between two paws for greater leverage.
He has found some regular poodle friends down in the park and often plays and runs around with a black poodle called Lilly.  He will also fetch a ball and responds to "sit " "up" and "walk"
Huxley sleeps on my sons bed and often, is in the room with him when he does his homework.
Thanks to all involved in his rescue.

Fella and Frankie (know Barkley) are enjoying their new life and they settled into there new home very well. Here are a few words from their new family:   Their little personalities are so different, fella is really out going and smart he can climb and jump really well. he also took to puppy school very well learning how to sit and drop really quickly, he is definitly a mummys boy likes to be patted and be the centre of attention.  barkley is just the same as when you had him he loves to be cuddled and is a little scared of new things he is so cute, he can't jump as well as fella so when fella jumps up somewhere barkley has to be helped up..  he liked puppy school, he just took a couple of weeks to get comfortable.

This is Mike - NOW Rusty.   He has grown up to be an absolutely stunning dog.

A word from his new owner:
He's a great dog I feel
lucky to have found him and I thank you for your help.

Picture of Kyle Picture of Kenny

Kyle & Kenny were little tiny kittens when they were dumped at the pound.  Now they are known as Santiago and Smokey and they are growing up to be very handsome boys.

    Picture of Gerry
How Gorgeous has Gerry (now Busta) grown up.   He was a beautiful baby from the time he was born, both in looks and temperament.
He looks like he could be a model.
